Junk removal planning for Hewitt

Separate the cart schedule from a bulky cleanout
Hewitt lists weekly trash collection and recycling every other week, with carts out by 7 a.m. A couch or loose brush pile is a different planning problem from the cart. Check the City’s collection calendar for the address, then consider the monthly resident drop-off if the load fits its rules.
Plan around the third-Saturday drop-off
Hewitt’s brush and bulk event runs on the third Saturday of each month, 8 a.m. to noon, at 1301 S Hewitt Drive. Bring the latest water bill and a driver’s license. The program is for Hewitt residents; a nearby address or a contractor arriving with household-looking items does not establish eligibility.
The first six cubic yards are free; excess volume costs $5 per cubic yard, payable by cash or check. Apartment residents pay $5 per load because they do not pay for this service through a water bill. Multiple loads may total the six-yard allowance, and trailers longer than 21 feet are not accepted. Confirm the event before travelling.
Sort by the event’s material rules
Accepted categories include residential brush, furniture, household debris, stoves, dishwashers, and water tanks. Refrigerators require refrigerant removal and a certified technician’s tag. Rejected categories include commercial brush or bulk, construction debris, flammables, hazardous waste, tires, shingles, pesticides, and paint cans.
Do not combine a furniture load with roof shingles or paint because there is spare trailer space. Keep rejected materials out while asking the City about the appropriate disposal path. Use the appliance guide to record what still needs qualified disconnection or refrigerant work. Ordinary hauling is not a substitute for that work.
Decide who can safely load and transport it
The event is a destination, not an indoor carrying service. Measure the sofa, note stairs, and assess whether the vehicle and tie-downs suit the load. The furniture checklist helps separate those handling questions from disposal eligibility. Never assume a resident allowance transfers to a paid contractor.
For a private option, get an exact quote covering labor, transport, and disposal before booking. The contractor you are connected with confirms Hewitt availability. Ask them whether any local authorization applies to the work.
