Junk removal planning for Robinson

Robinson runs its collection under a contract of its own, with its own weekly allowance and its own monthly drop-off. Start from those rules, not from what the city next door offers.

One contractor collects here, and the City names it

Robinson contracts with Waste Management for solid waste service. Each customer gets weekly household collection in a 96-gallon green-lid polycart, recycling every other week in the yellow-lid cart, a weekly curbside brush and bulk allowance, and the At Your Door collection for hazardous household items.

The route map published with the 2026 to 2027 recycle calendar splits the city into Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday collection days, with no Wednesday route, and recycling falls every other week on the address’s own trash day. The four holidays the City observes push collection to the following day and run that week late into Saturday.

The weekly curbside allowance stops at three cubic yards

Bulk goes to the curb once a week, on the trash day for the address, up to three cubic yards. Branches and tree trimmings must be four inches or less across, cut, tied and bundled in lengths of four feet or under, grass and trimmings belong in a disposable bag, and carpet is cut into four-foot bundles. An appliance is taken only once its refrigerant has been removed.

The refusal list is where a cleanout usually trips. Out go appliances still holding refrigerant, batteries, concrete, brick, asphalt and roofing, construction debris from a contractor, gasoline, paint, motor oil and filters, tires, vehicles and their parts, and anything weighing more than 200 pounds. Material from a gut remodel therefore needs the demolition debris route rather than the curb.

The first-Saturday drop-off, and what it refuses

Residential customers also get one Bulk and Brush Day a month, held on the first Saturday unless a holiday moves it, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 5158 South 12th Street. Bring the most current water bill; the charge is $10 per trip. Items can be dropped for chipping or shredding, and a roll-off bin takes carpet, furniture and appliances whose refrigerant is gone.

Hazardous material is refused there, with batteries, oil and paint named as examples, and tires are refused as well. Of the 2026 dates the City published, November 7 and December 5 are still ahead. Confirm the event before loading, since a holiday shifts the Saturday.

What the monthly service costs

The published residential rate breaks into $23.41 for collection, $1.33 for the At Your Door program and $2.72 in franchising and billing fees, which come to $27.46 per account each month. A cart that is lost or stolen is charged at $70, and carts are rated to hold 175 pounds, so an overfilled one may simply be left.

Where material may sit, and for how long

Carts belong at the curb by 7 a.m., no more than 36 inches from the edge of the road, six feet clear of obstructions such as vehicles and mailboxes, four feet apart, handles turned toward the house and lids closed. They may go out after noon on the day before collection and must be back off the street by noon on the day after.

The franchise agreement puts brush and bulky waste within three feet of the curb, swale or paved roadway, where the collection vehicle can safely reach it and clear of a driveway or mailbox.

Ask the City before booking a private truck

Ordinance 2025-015 granted Waste Management an exclusive franchise for residential and commercial collection and disposal inside the city limits, roll-off service excepted, and makes it an offense for anyone else to conduct that business, punishable by a fine of up to $2,000 with each day counted separately. Its agreement also treats construction debris produced at a home by a hired third party as commercial waste, while debris the owner or tenant generates alone stays under the bulky allowance.

Whether a particular job falls inside that prohibition is the City’s answer to give, not this page’s, and nothing here represents a hauler as authorized to work in Robinson. Settle that first; the furniture checklist and the garage sorting guide then help describe the load for the quote form.
