Identify what is actually in the pile

Describe loose leaves, grass, branches, larger limbs, soil, stumps, and outdoor household items separately. Include rough dimensions and whether the material is already cut and gathered. A contractor quoting a branch pile should not discover concrete edging or wire hidden underneath it.

Removal of material already on the ground is different from tree cutting, stump extraction, or work near utility lines. Explain what work has already happened and what still needs doing. Do not approach hanging branches or damaged lines to improve a pickup photograph.
